What Skygauge tells you

Given a coordinate or a locality, Skygauge returns three numbers and their delta:

  • Theoretical ceiling. The maximum permissible top elevation derived from ICAO Annex 14 obstacle limitation surfaces (six per airport) for CSMIA, Juhu, and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
  • Empirical band. The median permissible top of recently issued AAI NOCs in the neighborhood, recency-weighted, with the range and % restricted.
  • DP height cap. The MCGM Development Plan 2034 height limit — an additional planning constraint layered on top of the aviation OLS.

Where the data comes from

All ingested data is public.

  • Issued NOCs from AAI's NOCAS portal and Project Maitree's historical snapshot.
  • Appellate Committee proceedings from AAI, with deep-links to the original minutes PDFs.
  • MCGM DP 2034 contour + height layers (survey ground elevation, permissible/restricted height polygons).
  • Site elevation via Google Elevation as a fallback.

We do not republish raw datasets — we surface derived insights with attribution and links back to the source documents. The NOC dataset refreshes daily via an automated scrape of the public AAI endpoint.

What Skygauge is not

Skygauge is not a formal sanction. Per AAI's own disclaimer, height clearance is issued through the NOCAS portal. Use Skygauge for pre-application planning — it will tell you whether the site is likely permissible before you spend the fee.

The tool is indicative only. The engine's median delta versus real approvals is roughly ±15 m for restricted NOCs and ±24 m for unrestricted — mostly explained by case-by-case AAI approvals above the geometric surface (which no pure engine can predict) and instrument-procedure restrictions below (which the empirical layer is built to surface).
